Our history
In 1895, an aspiring and talented accountant pursued his life-long dream and vision with relentless determination. The young accountant dreamt of establishing an accounting practice which would advance the interests of the business community through the provision of accounting services which delivered much more than bookkeeping services. His vision was to help these businesses to reach their full potential through a genuine commitment to excellence.
His name was William Buck, and his practice carrying the same name, reflected his vision and dream. The firm William Buck attracted a wide range of clients, from small family businesses to large corporations.
William Buck had another dream – he wanted to ensure that the accounting profession generally, was also committed to excellence. To that end, William Buck founded the first accounting school in Victoria. Scores of potential accountants traveled far and wide to learn under this tuition. His students were attracted not only to his technical expertise, but also his enthusiasm, patience and dedication. William Buck’s accounting school and accounting practice were a tremendous success. This accounting school later became what we know today as the Institute of Chartered Accountants.
In the early 1920s, William Buck’s son, William Buck Junior, took over where his father had left off, and throughout the rest of the 20th century, William Buck Junior kept the legacy alive and built on the tradition of providing services of the highest quality.
The firm’s unrelenting focus on delivering value for its clients has underpinned this significant growth and will continue to do so into the future.
Our ongoing commitment to our clients is to deliver:
- Strategic advice
- Innovative solutions
- Service excellence
