Modern Manufacturing Initiative grant – Food and Beverage

What is it?

If you are undertaking a project to develop and commercialise new or improved products or manufacturing processes related to the Food and Beverage sector, you could be eligible to apply for MMI grant funding under the following streams:

  • The Manufacturing Translation Stream provides businesses with funding to support projects that translate high quality research into commercial outcomes and support businesses to scale-up and be more competitive and resilient.
  • The Manufacturing Integration Stream supports projects that integrate Australian businesses into domestic and international value chains, propelling their goods and services into new markets.

What is available?

Co-funding grants of between $1 million and $20 million are available to cover up to 50% of eligible project expenditure. Your eligible project expenditure must be at least $2 million to apply for the minimum funding amount.

What are the eligibility criteria?

You must:

  • Be a trading entity incorporated in Australia, have an ABN, be registered for GST, and be non-tax exempt.
  • Have a minimum of $2 million in eligible project expenditure and be able to provide evidence that you can meet the costs of your project not covered by grant funding.
  • Demonstrate that your project aligns with the Food and Beverage National Manufacturing Priority – projects that may qualify include:
    • Development/commercialisation of high value-add food and beverage products, products for convenience, and food and beverages for improved health and well-being
    • Development/installation of equipment, digital systems, or associated products such as robotics, monitoring systems and sensors to improve uptake of Industry 4.0 technologies (including for processing and packaging of food)
    • Adoption of new smart technologies like Industry 4.0 to improve food safety and quality, such as blockchain, standardised barcoding and image recognition technologies.

Applications are now open and are due on Tuesday, 27 April 2021 at 5pm AEST.
