William Buck expands its tax team, delivering on firmwide growth strategy

Leading mid-tier accounting and advisory firm William Buck has strengthened its Tax Services team with new appointments in New South Wales and South Australia.

Highly accomplished Chartered Accountant (CA) Raffi Tenenbaum has joined William Buck’s Sydney office as a Director of Tax Services.

Welcoming Raffi to the role, Greg Travers, Head of Tax at William Buck, said “Raffi’s extensive experience working with mid-market, Australian-owned private businesses will make him a really valuable addition to our team.”

“Private businesses are the core of our clients. They have unique tax and commercial issues that they need to deal with, and by building further depth in our Tax team we are even better placed to provide our clients with the support they need.”

“Raffi also has considerable experience work with clients in the Asia Pacific region, which is really relevant for our clients. He will take a lead role in this area, working closely with Ruby Cheung (Director, Business Advisory and the recently appointed Chair of the Praxity Alliance’s Asia Pacific Region).”

Raffi has previously worked for big four firms PwC and KPMG. He is a regular presenter for on tax issues for the professional bodies and other tax training providers.

Meanwhile, James King has joined William Buck SA as Principal of Tax Services.

With over 15 years specialist tax experience, James, also a CA, has demonstrated experience in assisting his clients with technical tax solutions and working with public, multinational and large private clients across a diverse range of industries.

He also specialises in corporate tax consulting including fringe benefits tax, salary packaging, tax effective accounting and employment taxes.

James most recently worked at big four firm Deloitte in its Corporate Tax team.

Greg said the addition of both tax practitioners will give William Buck’s Tax team a real platform from which it can drive further growth.

“Tax is a key service for our clients. We have great people developing with our Tax team and being able to supplement this with quality external hires really supports our growth plans. The aim over the course of the year is to make a number of further senior appointments to the team through internal promotions and the appointment of accomplished directors from outside the firm.”
