Strong demand drives growth at William Buck

Strong and sustained growth in challenging business conditions has been the driver of five internal promotions at South Australian Chartered Accounting and advisory firm William Buck.

The firm recently appointed its newest Directors, Matthew Illman and Babis Mavrakis, while also promoting Paula Liddle, David Martland and Lee Fuller to the newly created role of Principal.

William Buck’s Managing Director Jamie McKeough said the promotions reflected the strong demand for its business advisory services in an environment where many mid-market and private businesses were finding the conditions difficult.

“Generally there is a feeling of dampened confidence among many mid-market businesses who are uncertain about what the future holds for them,” he said.

“There are many factors contributing to this mood, from uncertainty about major projects planned for the State, to doubts about the economy.

“The result is many businesses are seeking guidance and support from William Buck because of the breadth and depth of services we can offer, which in-turn is driving strong growth within our business.”

With 19 Directors and more than 150 staff, Mr McKeough said William Buck is the largest locally owned and operated accounting and advisory firm in the Adelaide market.

“There are few others in the Adelaide market that can offer the range of services and level of resources to support and drive growth for mid-market businesses and high net worth individuals,” he said.

“These promotions will enable us to build our specialisation in key areas of our business advisory offering to ensure we can continue to provide expert guidance to South Australian businesses.”

All five promoted employees were from the Business Advisory division, with Matthew Illman and Babis Mavrakis to build on the extensive skill base of the Director group.

“Matthew, a former Adelaide 36ers championship player, is a natural leader who is able to quickly establish rapport and build strong relationships with people and also possesses high-level skills,” Jamie said.

“With a deep understanding of business and years of experience in business advisory, Babis is passionate about helping clients to build strong and successful operations.”
