Summer edition 2012 NZ

It has been a very hectic last few months for us with the shift into our new offices, and the merger.

It is now business as usual.  The new offices have been everything we expected.  Being on the fourth floor we can feel part of the activity outside without leaving the office.  Since shifting in we have had the Auckland Triathlon and the Royal visit happen virtually a few metres away.  It’s a pity we weren’t here for the Rugby World Cup.

If you are in the area please feel free to come in and have a look around.  Remember that we do not have parking under our building, however we do have parking arrangements with the Downtown Car Park.

Recently Michael Wood, Arran Boote and I travelled to the annual Praxity Conference – our international accounting association.  Despite it raining every day, we enjoyed listening to a number of excellent speakers including Mark King, CEO of TaylorMade, the golf equipment giant.   Mark was an energetic and thoughtful speaker – and he also promised to send me a new driver!

Attending these conferences is also a way of making and renewing relationships with chartered accountants from all over the world.  This means when we have the need to obtain assistance in other countries, we know the people we are dealing with.  With technology, the business world is becoming smaller and smaller, so those international relationships are becoming more and more valuable.

The end of the year is approaching rapidly, 2012 has generally been a challenging year, so instead let us dwell on our successes.  Our Olympians, All Blacks and Silver Ferns continue to do very well, and Kiwi success stories such as Xero also just keep on coming along.

I wish you all a safe and happy holiday, and all the best for 2013.
