The merger, which became effective from 6 August, has added approximately 20% to the firm’s top line and about 50% to the firm’s Business Advisory Division. While the merger will significantly increase the firm’s size, the recent expansion is not simply ‘growth for growth’s sake.’ Managing Director, Nikolas Hatzistergos explains: “Merging with Gateway Partners makes sense for our business. They have a fantastic reputation for assisting those in our core market: large family businesses, small to medium enterprises and high net worth individuals. The merger will strengthen our capabilities across these areas and allow us to better assist our clients.” The merger has brought two new Directors, Abie Greengarten and Gil Abras, and a Principal, Barbara Newton, along with 10 team members. Born and raised in Sydney, Abie has over 30 years’ experience in providing accounting and financial services to the SME sector. His client base consists of a large number of high net worth individuals and family businesses and he is looking forward to working with our specialist teams to find further ways to help his clients. Following a successful commercial career, Gil moved into accounting 10 years ago when he immigrated to Australia from Israel. Gil has a varied client portfolio spread across a wide range of industries. Barbara has over 30 years of experience in the accounting profession and has a portfolio comprising of high net worth individuals and their associated companies, family owned businesses and other corporates. William Buck has further boosted its Business Advisory division with the appointment of Siobhan Sellick as a Director. Siobhan comes from one of the Big 4 accounting firms, and has vast experience in assisting high net worth individuals. Her services are sought after by many of Australia’s most prominent individuals. Siobhan made the move to William Buck as she enjoys the family-like culture and the focus on client service excellence.
